HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) –
The Honolulu Fire Department on Sunday rescued several hikers in two separate incidents on Oahu.
At around 2:30 p.m., 12 firefighters responded to a hiker in distress above Makaha Valley. Upon arrival, firefighters learned the man in his late 20s was on the trail for seven hours and became exhausted. He was airlifted to a landing zone about an hour later.
Then, at around 7 p.m., a dozen firefighters rescued two hikers – a male and a female – who got lost while hiking the Maunawili Falls Trail in Windward Oahu. Firefighters located the hikers around 7:40 p.m. and escorted them back to the trailhead. They were not injured, HFD said.
